Welcome from Heather Small
On behalf of the Governors and Staff I would like to welcome you to Wellesley. I am very proud to be part of this school that has been described as a ‘hidden gem’!
We are a small school with approximately 210 children on roll and have just one class per year group. This allows us to really get to know our children and their families well and the children are very much seen as individuals. We have a fantastic staff team who are dedicated to supporting and helping all our children to achieve the best they can. We welcome and encourage parental involvement in school life as we know that this ensures the best possible outcomes for the children.
Our main priority is always that children feel safe and are happy. When this is achieved we know they can learn well and make good progress. We offer a wide, engaging curriculum with a key focus on reading, writing and maths as these are key to a successful learning journey throughout their school life. However, we also place a great emphasis on developing positive learning attitudes that will stand them in good stead throughout their whole life (such as teamwork and resilience). We also want to give children experiences that they will remember and treasure.
Our children are brilliant! They light up each and every day with their enthusiasm for life and learning. But they are also very kind and caring. We always get lovely comments from visitors about how fantastic their behaviour is whether at work or at play. We hope that the friendships they make here will last a life-time.
