Computing
Intent
At Wellesley Primary School, we have developed a Computing curriculum based on the National Curriculum to engage our children in the ever-changing world of technology and e-safety. It is clear that technology forms an important part of our children’s lives and we want to ensure that children are able to become independent computer users, prepared to take their place in today’s digital world, whilst being able to keep themselves and others safe online.

Implementation
Computing is taught throughout Wellesley Primary School, both discretely and through making links with other subject areas, for example photography in art.
It is taught using iLearn2, a scheme which enables pupils to build on their knowledge in the three key areas of digital literacy, programming and information technology. As children move through the units of work within the scheme, they build on their knowledge and skills progressively. Children are able to use a range of electronic devices such as computers, laptops, chrome books and tablets to facilitate their learning.

Impact
Children at Wellesley Primary School engage fully with the Computing curriculum and talk enthusiastically about their learning. They are able to demonstrate a growth mindset when learning new skills, and the importance of perseverance when learning to de-bug programmes. Children are able to talk about how to keep themselves and others safe online, and are aware of what they need to do if they encounter any material that makes them feel uncomfortable.
